    ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Almost as soon as I learned to play the guitar, I also started writing original songs.

For me, songwriting is really a compulsion – a cathartic and creative spark with a beat that pops into my brain seemingly from nowhere. As the years have gone by, I’ve amassed a considerable catalogue of my own music in constant rotation inside the personal radio playing inside my head - songs of various musical styles written throughout my life; my true musical legacy.

For the most part these songs exist only in my memory- fully formed, but getting dusty. And while I’m not a prodigious songwriter, I do have about 70 songs (and counting) that I’m interested in recording.

Now that I’ve gotten older, I feel a new compulsion to get these songs out of my head and into reality. And while I am lucky enough to work with some amazing musicians to create this project, this is a mostly self-contained effort - in the tradition of Paul McCartney, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Todd Rundgren and Trent Reznor. It's a big undertaking - and it is going to end up being too many songs to call it a traditional “album”.

For that reason, I’m calling it a project.

WELCOME TO MY PROJECT!! Since many of these songs are now getting old, there is a huge nostalgic component in this for me. This is a potentially years-long endeavor... and it reminds me of my childhood family car trips that seemed to take forever, with me impatiently asking “Are we there yet?” – just waiting to get to that motel pool or back home to the pool in my back yard.

I invite you to take this journey with me. The aim is to faithfully capture the essence of the time in which each song was written, and tweak and improve when it makes sense. Or maybe re-think the context of a song entirely – obviously, what seemed cool when I was 18 might feel a bit odd to me now. Either way, it’s going to be fun and a real challenge to work this out on a song-by-song basis.

I sincerely hope that you like what you hear, and that you check back often - as I continually add new songs to the site as I complete them.
THANK YOU for your interest and support!!
